The National Stud Show, hosted at the world class venue of the Sydney International Equestrian Centre, once again proved an unqualified success for Team Mulawa - Halter and Performance. Congratulations to Andrew Buckley on the purchase of East Coast Champion ASTOR ! An accomplished son of Mulawa cornerstone sire MAGNUM FORTY FOUR, ASTOR has matured into a handsome, athletic stallion with a promising performance career ahead. His dam, ASTORIA, was the eldest of the PARKVIEW AUDACIOUS-MULAWA ARIA daughters, and as such, a member of the most important dam family in the Mulawa program, that of KARMAA. Everyone at Mulawa wishes Andrew great success with ASTOR on his new life as a saddle horse.

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of MULAWA ARIA . She was peacefully found in her paddock at Alabama on the morning of October 13th. A beloved daughter of invaluable foundation mare KARMAA, MULAWA ARIA was the second foal of her remarkable dam, and the oldest daughter to remain in the Mulawa breeding program throughout her breeding career. Her sire was ARRIVAL, the Mulawa-bred Pure Polish son of foundation pillars AMBITION (imported from the United States) and EUNI (bred in Poland and imported from Germany). While evoking the unmistakeable femininity and effusive quality of her dam, ARIA was most strongly influenced by her Polish heritage, possesing the strength, substance and athleticism

Mulawa is proud to announce the successful sales of several horses during and shortly after the annual Open Day. Several aspiring stars sold to long-time local supporters, while two outstanding young colts, TRUST MI and KATAR MI, sold to South Australia and Victoria, respectively. Good news from NSW State Titles over the weekend. APHRODITE MI was named Junior Champion Mare in her show debut, while SANTIAGO MI earned the title of Reserve Champion Junior Stallion. KLASS continued his winning ways as a sire with Junior Champion Gelding MYSTERE MI. Congratulations to the proud owners and exhibitors on a great start to the show season. We are thirlled to announce the recent sale of ANASTAZI MI to Linda Trotter of NSW. A former National Stud Show & East Coast Champion in halter as a junior stallion, ANASTAZI is now being prepared for a senior campaign both in hand and under saddle with renowned trainer Andrew Buckley. Given the success of the Magnum Forty Four get under saddle, we look forward to a bright future ahead for Team ANASTAZI. Congratulations Linda - we wish you great success and much joy with ANASTAZI!

The recent shows in Queensland proved successful for Mulawa with the next generation of show stars amongst the competition. In her debut, PRAVIA MI was awarded the Junior Filly Championship at the prestigious Queensland Challenge. At both the Queensland Challenge and the Gala Event under international judges Dick Adams and Mickey Hegg, respectively, MULAWA ASPIRING (Magnum Forty Four x Jiah Aspire by GLF Apollo) was named Reserve Senior Champion Mare.

The final foals of the season arrived on the 31st of March: two higly anticipated KLASS embryo transfer foals out of the premier mares PARADA & PRINCIPESSA CCA. t has been another outstanding year of foals, with extraordinary individuals sired by DA VALENTINO, ABHA QATAR, GAZAL AL SHAQAB, GUILIANO and MAGNUM FORTY FOUR. We are especially proud of the first foals by Mulawa-bred sire ALLEGIANCE MI. Both colts exhibit the extreme type and quality of their sire. KLASS continues to defy all expectations, with his best crop of foals yet, fillies and colts alike.

It is with a very heavy heart that we share the news of the loss of MULAWA ANASTAZIA. A former National Stud Show Champion and East Coast as well as Australian Reserve Champion Yearling Filly, ANASTAZIA was beloved as one of the best mares of her generation and an esteemed member of the invaulable collection of PARKVIEW AUDACIOUS daughters wihtin the Mulawa broodmare band. ANASTAZIA was found dead in her shelter at Alabama from unknown causes.

For the second year in a row, Team Mulawa Performance was victorious at Dressage with the Stars, the 10th annual event in Werribee, Victoria. In the toughest competition for young Dressage horses on the continent, Arabian Warmblood mare SUGARLOAF SIRHARA was named Champion Five Year Old with an excellent score of 9.0 for Ridability from UK-based and South African born Emile Faurie. SIRARA was also the highest scoring Dressage horse of the show with an excellent score of 82.4%. On Saturday evening competing against both the champion four and six year olds from their respective divisions, SIRHARA was named Australian Young Dressage Horse Champion of Champions to the thundering approval of the crowd.

The Australian Championships have once again proven an outstanding showcase for Mulawa owned, bred and shown horses. Friday proved especially successful for GUILIANO, whose first foals dominated the Yearling classes, earning all three Australian Championship titles. ROMANCE MI earned herself back-to-back Australian Champiosnships with a win as Two & Three Year Old Filly Champion. Katharine Farrell & German-import LUXOR were dominant in the Dressage ring, winning both the Advanced Dressage test and the Prix St Georges. PARADA (with Cameron Bonney) was victorious as Australian Champion Mare. GUILIANO (with Andy Sellman) finished the year undefeated as Australian Champion Stallion and highest score of the show.

Mulawa was the recipient of two major awards on Tuesday night at the Arabian Horse Society of Australia AGM at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre. For the fourth year in a row, Mulawa was named Purebred Breeder of the Year for wins earned at the 2011 Australian Championships. 2011 AHSA Purebred Saddle Horse of the Year was MULAWA BRONZE WINGS, who earned three Australian Championships, two Reserves and one Top Ten at Tamworth with Daniella Dierks.

Mulawa Arabian Stud was recently featured in the February 2012 Oasis Magazine. Highlighting The Magnificent Mares of Mulawa, the article celebrates the many generations of success of the Mulawa breeding program.

The 25th Anniversary of the prestigious East Coast Championships turned out to be a celebratory event for Mulawa Arabian Stud. Under internationally respected judge Joseph Polo from the United States, Mulawa achieved six championships in the breeding classes, including all three yearling titles - Filly, Colt & Gelding, and the Two Year Old Colt title, as well as the Senior titles for both Mares & Stallions Five Years of Age & Over.

It is with great sadness that we share the passing of SUMMERZAR IMAGERY (Luden's Image x Dessys Image by Wimsey Abdul). "Image" was the victim of chronic founder at just 15 years of age. IMAGE proved to be an exceptional ambassador for the Arabian Warmblood, winning hearts and legions of fans wherever he competed. He was deeply loved by Katharine Farrell and the whole Farrell family, as well as the dedicated Mulawa Performance Team. His passing has been an immense loss for all who had the good fortune to know him.

Despite the gloomy weather and steady drizzle on the first day of the 2011 National Stud Show at Horsley Park, the results for the Mulawa halter team were outstanding. With representatives in five of the six junior purebred championships, Team Mulawa was awarded four championship titles and two reserves. Mulawa Team Performance was equally successful in their debut. The ever talented team of MULAWA BRONZE WINGS & Daniella Dierks were victorious in the Jess Greenlagh Memorial Sash. Congratulations on a stellar start to the show season.

Congratulations to Anglo-Arabian MULAWA WISDOM (TS Al Malik x Wisp of Air) and Anita Johnson for qualifying for the Tom Quilty on November 26th. WISDOM finished third in his first 160 km ride both healthy and happy at the Tasmanian State Championships in St. Helens. We look forward to WISDOM riding the same course in June of 2012 when he competes at the Tasmanian hosted Tom Quilty. Good luck to Anita and WISDOM in 2012!

Bookending an outstanding year of success in North America, the Mulawa-bred and owned *ALWAYS VALENTINE MI (DA Valentino x Always An Angel by SK Shakla Khan) was named 2011 US National Reserve Champion Two Year Old Filly in Tulsa on Tuesday night, October 25th. A sixth-generation Mulawa-bred female, *ALWAYS VALENTINE is a member of the beloved and highly accomplished M ANGELIQUE family. Shown just four times in 2011, *ALWAYS VALENTINE was rewarded with six major titles at four of the most prestigious shows on the continent. At her debut in February, she was named Scottsdale First Place Junior Two Year Old Filly, as well as overall Scottsdale Reserve Junior Champion Filly.

There are few Open Days in the world that can rival the annual event at Mulawa Arabian Stud each September. In terms of quality of horses, Mulawa is leading the continent in consistently producing world-class quality foals year after year, and turning out each successive foal crop to most deservedly earn an enviable list of show accolades at the most prestigious events in the country. A huge congratulations is in order for Katharine Farrell and recent PSI import LUXOR. Amongst incredibly strong competition, Kate and LUXOR were named Advanced Dressage Champion at the 2011 NSW Young Riders Championships. In addition to these individual achievements, their combined win and impressive scores contributed to Champion Team honours being earned by New South Wales.

Argent Farms has been busy proudly promoting the Mulawa Arabians in North America this season. The most recent success was achieved at the Region 13 Championships in Indianapolis, Indiana amongst a competitive field. Scottsdale Reserve Junior Champion Filly & Arabian Breeders World Cup Top Ten Supreme Junior Champion Filly ALWAYS VALENTINE MI (DA Valentino x Always An Angel by SF Shakla Khan) once again emerged victorious as Region 13 Champion Two Year Old Filly. Scottsdale International Reserve Champion Two Year Old Colt & Arabian Breeders World Cup Top Ten Supreme Junior Champion Colt MAXIUM (Magnum Forty Four x Sahtarah by Sahjat) earned the Reserve Championship in the competition for Two Year Old Colts at Region 13.

We received an update from happy owner Julie Kemp. It appears AFIRE LITE (GLF Apollo x Fire Flame by Fame Maker R) is enjoying a career in endurance. Julie was kind enough to send along some photos of her partner Pete and "Millie" competing at a recent event in Queensland. The news is that both Pete & Millie went very well! We are always pleased to receive updates and news from members of the Mulawa Community. Congratulations on your success with AFIRE LITE - continued Happy Trails for all of you.

Congratulations to Sharon Barry on her recent win with ADIVA MI (Fame Maker R x Mulawa Ariva by TS Al Malik) at the 2011 Victoria Arabian Classic in Werribee. In one of the largest and most competitive classes of the entire show, ADIVA and Sharon emerged victorious as Champion Purebred Shown by an Amateur, even besting a few former Australian Champions in the process. Well done Sharon & ADIVA! We wish you continued success with ADIVA in-hand, under saddle and in all her future endeavours!

Exciting News from Werribee! At the 9th Annual Dressage & Jumping with the Stars event in Victoria on March 24th-26th, two qualified Mulawa owned Arabian warmbloods achieved siginificant success. Daniella Dierks was back in the irons for the Champion of Champions competition on Saturday evening, which was decided from the winners of the Four, Five & Six Year Old Young Dressage Horse Champions. The ultimate decision of respected international expert and multi-World Champion Dr. Ulf Moeller fell upon REVELWOOD DONATELLO as the Best Young Dressage Horse in Australia for 2011.
