THE MULAWA STORY

The story of Mulawa is one of passion and vision, of purpose and ambition, of authenticity and integrity – a story that began with a young man and a fervent desire to own an Arabian horse. Now universally acknowledged as a leader and innovator both at home and abroad, Mulawa is one of the most respected, enduring and accomplished breeding, training, show and performance programs in the international Arabian horse industry. Embarking on nearly a half century of involvement with and dedication to the Arabian horse, Mulawa Arabian Stud can proudly count amongst its long list of accomplishments the celebration of eight successive generations of vision, achievement & results.

ARABIAN HORSES

Now well into the fifth decade of expansion and achievement, the Mulawa Arabian Stud of modern day is still firmly grounded in the original purpose: to create world class Arabian athletes that represent the classic desert ideal, perfectly combining balance, versatility, beauty and utility.

MULAWA PERFORMANCE

With an innate love of dressage, the Mulawa Warmblood programme came into being in 2010. Now entering its second decade of success, Mulawa Performance competes through the levels of Australian Dressage, commited to advancing equine excellence in all endeavours.

NEW SOUTH WALES

From pristine beaches to the awe-inspiring Australian outback, New South Wales (NSW) is one of the most unique and breathtakingly beautiful places in the world. Anchored around the capital city Sydney, and its world-famous harbour, NSW is home to one of the world's most vibrant and laid back coastal cities, home to the iconic Sydney Opera House & Harbour Bridge, as well as the legendary beaches at Bondi & Manly. The coastal experience continues both northward and southward from Sydney, becoming more tropical en route to celebrated destinations on the Central Coast, Port Macquarie, Coffs Harbour & Byron Bay, and more rugged through the southern highlands against spectacular backdrops contrasting land and sea. The interior mountains - both the Snowy & Blue Mountain ranges - offer some of the country's best hiking, skiing and total immersion into the natural world.  Further inland, the Hunter Valley region boasts the state's premier wine growing region, as well as the nation's horse capital near Scone. Outback adventures begin in the far West, beyond the farms and stations that supply the heart of Australia with an abundance or world-class quality food and agricultural products. Just as Australia itself began right here in NSW over 200 years ago, your adventure Down Under begins in the heart of it all: New South Wales.

MULAWA FACILITIES

If there is a heaven on earth for horses, Mulawa is undoubtedly the principal address. Spread over four properties in three locations across two Australian states, the comprehensive scope of the operation is simultaneously ambitious, efficient, enterprising, equine friendly and impressively all-encompassing. Mulawa has evolved and grown over the years to become an all encompassing equine facility, designed and dedicated to the breeding, nurturing, training and all around well being of our beloved horses.

From our original farm base at Berrilee in Sydney’s North West, Mulawa now incorporates properties in three primary locations. Each property is more specifically dedicated to one aspect of the farms endeavours, and have been developed not as showcases but in order to best serve the needs of both the horses and our small but dedicated team who care for them. Each has been created with the psychological and physiological well being and comfort of the horse in mind. The predominant atmosphere at each property is one of peaceful calm and orderly efficiency. The breeding operation is centred at Alabama, our broodmare facility in New South Wales in the Upper Hunter Valley. The training and conditioning centre for Team Halter is at Mulawa Sydney, while Team Performance takes residence in a state-of-the art facility across the road at Ambition. Our retired horses and family mounts are to be found at Bellevue and the Country Club Hotel in Australia’s island state of Tasmania.
